SSND teams up with Give STL Day
On May 11, School Sisters of Notre Dame is collaborating with Give STL Day. Give STL Day is an online day of giving where nonprofits across the St. Louis area will reach out to supporters to share our mission and raise funds. The Greater Community Foundation of St. Louis hosts the online event and in 2016, Give STL Day generated a total of $2.15 million for more than 900 nonprofits. This is the first year we are participating and we need your help to make it a success!
Everyone can be a philanthropist. We are asking people in the St. Louis area to get behind this effort and give. Large and small gifts will combine for big impact— it is time to think big. All the funds raised will benefit ministry needs. Your gifts will help sisters to continue in their ministries like:
- Caring for immigrants and refugees through the Immigrant and Refugee Women’s Program, an independent nonprofit that teaches basic English and living skills to help refugee and immigrant women gain independence and start a new life in the United States.
- Advocating for Creation with sisters to protest and advocate against the West Lake Landfill in St. Louis County and the hazardous burning of nuclear waste.
- Educating youth through the English Tutoring Project, a collaboration between SSND and other women religious, which provides English tutoring for students learning English as a second language to help gain academic success.
Your gifts make a difference in helping us transform the world through education.
Nothing is impossible for God
The Virgin Mary was perplexed in trying to match God’s desire for her with the reality of her life’s physical circumstances. Sometimes it is hard for us as well to believe in a future that seems out of reach or seemingly impossible given the present reality. And yet… How deep is your trust in God’s invitation to you?
School Sisters of Notre Dame celebrate their Foundation Day Oct. 24 as the day Blessed Theresa Gerhardinger and two other women formed the order known today. Blessed Theresa grounded SSND in the Eucharist, rooted it in poverty, and dedicated it to Mary. This year celebrates the 182nd anniversary of the founding as SSNDs worldwide continue to live and work in Blessed Theresa’s spirit. What is your passion?
We are Thankful ~ Part 2
SSND sisters and associates are thankful for the blessings in their lives. How do they “pay that forward”? Many participate in service projects through their parishes, ministries, local communities or on their own.How do you help others? How do you pay it forward?
