New year brings new season and new co-host for SSND podcast |
The new season of Called to Action will launch on Wednesday, January 15. Called to Action is the podcast of School Sisters of Notre Dame Central Pacific Province (SSNDCP) and features sisters, lay colleagues, associates and ministry leaders from throughout our communities delving into issues of importance as they relate to the ministries of SSND and our global communities.
The podcast focuses the five Shalom focus areas: Care of Creation, Immigration and Refugees, Human Trafficking, Gospel Nonviolence and Just Peace and Racial Justice.
The 2025 season not only introduces our next topic, human trafficking, but also welcomes a new co-host, Sister Jan Berberich. Listeners are invited to join Sister Jan, co-host Adam Schicker and their guests for what promises to be an impactful and informative season.

Finding larger purpose in New Year's resolutions |
For many, the New Year is a time to embrace positive changes in our lives in the form of New Year’s resolutions. While some may seek to get organized, exercise more or cut out a bad habit, this year we invite you to consider what a ‘spiritual New Year’s resolution’ might look like as it relates to the goals of Laudato Si’ and the care of creation and communities around us.
The seven goals of Laudato Si’ are: Response to the cry of the earth, Response to the cry of the poor, Ecological economics, Adoption of sustainable lifestyles, Ecological education, Ecological spirituality and Community resilience and empowerment.
There are every day, meaningful steps we can all enact in the cause of care for our common home – and oftentimes, positive changes we make on behalf of the planet end up being positive changes for ourselves as well!
