Standing for human dignity and against human trafficking

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Human trafficking is present in every state and province where the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) live and minister. Pope Francis describes human trafficking as “a crime against humanity” and “a deep and open wound in the body of Christ and in the body of all humanity, which affects each one of us.” Tim Dewane, director of Justice, Peace, & Integrity of Creation, details how the sisters of Central Pacific Province work on the issue of human trafficking utilizing three paths – awareness building, advocacy and engagement.
