Meet the new provincial council |
Seven School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) made a commitment to the future of SSND and the Central Pacific Province by becoming the new provincial council. The council will provide governance, planning, spiritual guidance and day-to-day leadership for sisters within the province, fostering unity and enabling sisters to continue to live the mission of SSND. The travels and trials of Mother Caroline Friess |
Mother Caroline Friess was named representative in North America in 1850 at the age of 26 by Blessed Theresa Gerhardinger. Her role required her to travel extensively throughout her lifetime and she used every means of transportation available. Mother Caroline suffered from every inconvenience imaginable – missed connections, bumpy roads, bad hotels and even a steamboat explosion. Mother Caroline wrote, “You can imagine how weariness, lack of sleep and hunger tormented us, for since we left Milwaukee we had had little sleep and no warm food.” Read More »

Sister’s mission to Africa provides enriching experiences |
July 18 is Nelson Mandela International Day, commemorating the former South African leader and anti-apartheid revolutionary. In recognition of what Nelson Mandela represented, we take a look at the African ministries of Sister Eleanor Ewertz, who is celebrating her 60th Jubilee this year. Sister Eleanor spent time in Sierra Leone and Ghana teaching and inspiring young people to become strong and compassionate leaders. Read More »
