Our Lady of Good Counsel’s historic organ |
In April 1975, one of the world’s largest pipe organs moved from St. Mary’s Church in Boston, Massachusetts, to Our Lady of Good Counsel in Mankato, Minnesota. The organ was built in October 1877. It is the largest surviving organ in a series of organs designed and built by William A. Johnson & Sons of Westfield, Massachusetts. Read More »

Spreading awareness of human trafficking |
As an adjunct professor, Sister Mary Beth Reissen has collaborated with colleagues at Webster University, in St. Louis, Missouri, in designing and teaching a college-level course on human trafficking, entitled Contemporary Slavery Human Trafficking. The course is offered at Webster University as part of the university’s Global Citizenship program for undergraduates. Learn More »

School Sisters of Notre Dame commemorate 100 year history in the Diocese of Bismarck |
The School Sisters of Notre Dame celebrated 100 years in the Diocese of Bismarck, North Dakota. In 1865, the first sisters arrived in Mankato, Minnesota, and in 1912, the province was established. After repeated appeals from Bismarck North Dakota’s Bishop Vincent Wehrle, for teachers in schools in North Dakota, Mother Isidore, Mankato’s first provincial superior, opened schools in New Hradec and Scheffield in 1917. In the years that followed, the sisters answered the call to teach at many other schools in North Dakota. Read More »
